Great Expectations for Telecoms Competition
In the second half of this
decade, the foremost goal of US policy-makers and regulators in the field of
telecommunications has been to bring about robust competition for local
telephone service. The US has not been alone in this endeavor. Since the
beginning of the decade, and arguably since 1984, the UK has also been striving
to inject competition into local telephone markets.
