UK Mobile Consumer Trends
In this report we update our UK mobile user survey to examine the latest consumer trends in the market. In summary, we have found that the strong subscriber growth recently reported by the operators is largely illusory, and is actually driven by high handset replacement rates which are costing them money; customer loyalty at the larger operators has remained strong while that at H3G has got worse; camera phone ownership has surged, MMS usage remains low but is still useful in revenue terms; and finally 3G as a concept is not popular with consumers, current usage is very low and the revenue impact of 3G-specific services is likely to be slight.
